Where it is
The newest part of Tampa
New Tampa is the city's far north end: Lutz to the west, Wesley Chapel across the county line to the north, Morris Bridge Road to the east and the University of South Florida to the south. Tampa annexed it in 1988, and most of what stands there now was built after that, as planned communities off Bruce B. Downs Boulevard and Cross Creek Boulevard.
Nearly all of it shares one ZIP code, 33647, which covers close to 34 square miles of land in the 2020 Census files. That is a big area for one postcode, so when you book, give us the street and the community name as well as the ZIP.
City or county
Same ZIP, two governments
About 24 square miles of New Tampa are inside Tampa city limits. Some of the communities that use a Tampa address are not, and that matters the day a window gets smashed.
| Community | Inside the city? | Who takes a report |
|---|---|---|
| Tampa Palms | Yes, the oldest part of New Tampa inside the city | Tampa Police Department |
| Cory Lake Isles | Yes | Tampa Police Department |
| Pebble Creek | No, unincorporated Hillsborough County, and the oldest New Tampa neighborhood | Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office |

Getting there
Bruce B. Downs and I-75
Bruce B. Downs Boulevard is New Tampa's main street. It began as 30th Street and took its present name in 1984, after a Hillsborough deputy county administrator for public works. It runs north from Busch Boulevard past the west side of USF and the medical centers, through Tampa Palms, and up to State Road 56 in Wesley Chapel, where the county road number gives way to a state one.
I-75 cuts through New Tampa, with exits that most New Tampa drivers know by number: 265 for Fowler Avenue, 266 for Fletcher Avenue and Morris Bridge Road, 270 for Bruce B. Downs, and 275 for SR 56, where the interchange is a diverging diamond that crosses traffic to the left side of the road. Southbound, I-275 joins I-75 at exit 274 near the county line. That is a lot of interstate on an everyday commute, shared with a lot of trucks, and trucks throw stones.
Tampa Palms has its own spine road, Tampa Palms Boulevard, laid out 120 feet wide. Cross Creek Boulevard and New Tampa Boulevard carry traffic east and north to the other communities, and County Line Road is, as the name says, the edge of Pasco.
Install day
Behind the gate, on the driveway
- Gated communities: give us the gate code or the name to give at the guardhouse, and add our name to any visitor list the community keeps.
- Ask your property owners' association whether a vendor may work in your driveway or the street. If not, a garage almost always works.
- Leave room on both sides of the car. The technician needs to walk all the way around it to lift the glass in.
- Book a morning slot from June to September, before the afternoon storms build. Without a garage, glass can't go in during rain.
- Working near USF or the hospitals on Bruce B. Downs? An office lot or a surface lot is fine, if the lot's owner allows vendors.
Woods and water
Living next to the preserve
New Tampa backs onto a lot of wild land. Flatwoods Conservation Park is part of the Lower Hillsborough Wilderness Preserve, and Cory Lake Isles is described as surrounded by about 17,000 acres of woodland. That means tall pines and oaks over many streets, and limbs and pine cones on cars after a summer storm. A crack that starts at the edge of a windshield can lengthen with heat and bumps, so after a branch strike it is worth a photo and a quote while the crack is still short.
New Tampa questions
Tell us the community name and the street when you call our Tampa line, (727) 270-8521, or text a photo to (877) 350-5962.
My address says Tampa but I live in Pebble Creek. Am I in your area?
Yes. Pebble Creek is unincorporated Hillsborough County with Tampa addresses, and it is part of our Tampa Bay service area like the rest of New Tampa.
Can you replace a windshield inside Cory Lake Isles or Tampa Palms?
Usually, once the gate or guardhouse lets us in and the association allows vendor work where the car is parked. Check with the association before the day, and tell us any rules when you book.
Is New Tampa part of Wesley Chapel?
No. New Tampa is inside Hillsborough County and mostly inside Tampa city limits. Wesley Chapel starts north of County Line Road in Pasco County. We serve both.
Cracked windshield in 33647?
Send the VIN and the community name. We quote the exact glass and fit it at your home or office, Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.
